Shakespeare & Company Sketch

Two years ago, I went on a month long holiday to the UK and Europe. Paris was a definite highlight - it was everything I had imagined it would be and more. The city is so picturesque and atmospheric, especially on dusk when the warm light of the street lamps cast a magical glow and the strains of piano accordion can be heard through the streets.

One place that really captured my imagination was the bookstore, Shakespeare and Company. Located in Paris' Left Bank, it was opened in 1951 as a tribute to the famous Shakespeare and Co frequented by authors such as Ernest Hemingway and James Joyce. It is everything a bookstore should be: warm, inviting and quirky with books piled up high in every available space. I have been wanting to do a sketch of the shop for a long time as it has such a picturesque exterior. Here is what I have come up with...
